ABOUT MEI'm Abby Zimmardi, a multimedia and data journalist. My curiosity has led me to learn about the world, gain new skills and most importantly, it has led me to be a journalist who is passionate about sharing important stories.
I grew my journalism toolkit while at the University of Arkansas, where I graduated in 2021 with a degree in journalism. I craved to learn and acquire more experience from working journalists who double as professors, and this led me to pursue a Master of Journalism at the University of Maryland. I plan to graduate in December 2022 and continue to work in the journalism field. |
My skills include data analysis and visualization, news and feature writing and reporting, and being able to make connections and build rapport with people wether it's in person or on the phone. I have a love for anthropology and learning about people in cultures different from my own – this is what got me into journalism and it has grown into an even deeper love of talking with people, which I am lucky enough to do every day as a journalist.
I have reported on a range of topics including worker safety and illnesses in Arkansas' meat-packing industry, evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, reproductive justice and criminal justice. I have an extensive portfolio of COVID-19 data reporting and local Arkansas news coverage.
